Fathers Day Weekend
My fathers day...
In my advanced years, I've been lucky enough to have two children, and now my first grandson. Yes, that means I'm older than 99.837% of the people reading this.
With my son being bold enough to follow in his fathers (think me) and his grandfathers footsteps, by joining the USAF (yes, he's protecting our sorry lazy ungrateful asses), I wasn't able to share fathers day with him.
However things turned out for the best as my daughter, her boyfriend and their son (my grandson) all came over. And her boyfriends father, step mother, sister, and brother, all came over. We grilled out, spent the day in the pool, and drank entirely way too much. It was a grand day.
So that means this weekend I didn't accomplish anything outside of enjoying my family, and what I have in my life.
When was the last time you stopped and just looked? Looked at your laptop? Looked at your couch or television? Just look at the things around you? Trees? Fresh water? Just take a moment and look. Please.
On one hand I feel that I've missed a chance to read and learn more towards my goal. On the other hand I feel like I've gained the world.
I hope one day you'll be able to look into the eyes of your child, then see those eyes in your grandchild. I promise you'll feel whole.
But here I am, back at it. Reading blogs, tech notes, listening to podcasts. While its all still jibberish, its starting to become familiar. And thats pretty awesome for me. I'm loving it, and I'm excited about it. When was the last time you were excited about software development?
